Too bad they have to use such a wide brush to tar even band posters as vandals - better to designate allowable places - many areas have poles with metal collars at intervals for this. I would hope they also target the area for poor lighting, garbage, run-down properties, broken up streets etc.

Jan 24/2011 - Boston - Now the neighborhoods are taking a hard line against graffiti artists and sticker-happy 20-somethings who litter the streets and utility poles with band fliers, dragging down property values and making people feel unsafe. Police this month are blanketing the area with 90 signs that warn of the $300 fine for illegally posting notices and $1,500 fine and arrest for tagging.

Jan 22/2011 - Cologne -The organization that represents Cologne's property owners, the Kölner Haus- und Grundbesitzerverein (KHG) takes a firm stance against graffiti. Managing director Thomas Tewes told Deutsche Welle that he is only against illegal graffiti because it represents an attack on German law and thus the foundation of society itself. "Our society can't work if everybody can do what he or she wants. Society only works with rules, and we have to obey these rules. And this is the only thing we want to convey to these graffiti sprayers: They must accept the rules of a society. Nothing more, nothing less," he said.

Jan 21/2011 - BELVIDERE  - Ill - — A walk down the alley between Lori’s Little Critters, 109 N. State St., and the building at 105 N. State St. will likely draw your attention to the graffiti on both brick buildings. The building at 105 N. State St. houses the Register Star’s Boone County Bureau, apartments, a meeting room and Hot Heads hair salon. On this building are the somewhat faded words “White Power.” At 109 N. State, blue spray-paint, scribbles and black graffiti mar the building’s mural.

Jan 11, 2011 - Detroit - The distinctive sound of aerosol spray cans could be overheard at the Ford Motor Company booth here, but nobody appeared concerned. Ford commissioned the digital graffiti wall for the brand’s display, which they hoped would encourage visitors to explore the options list for its Fiesta subcompact. Users would select a color from a digital palette, which could then be applied to a graphic of the car’s surface with a digital-paint rendering nozzle, activated with two fingers to mimic the preferred grip of so-called fat-cap street artists.
