Dec 23/09 -Copenhagen - Banksy, the graffiti artist, has registered his view on last week’s climate talks in Copenhagen with a series of works along the Regent’s Canal in Camden, North London. In one of them, just above the water line, he has spray-painted the words “I don’t believe in global warming”, with the words disappearing below the surface.

Dec 16/09 - Calligraphers and graffiti artists, whether they know it or not, speak the same language. “Take tagging,” says calligrapher Lisa Engelbrecht. “When they do it, it has a beautiful thick and thin line just like calligraphy.” Driving around her Long Beach neighborhood not long ago, she spotted a building covered in graffiti. It was the humble Homeland Cultural Arts Center — beautifully painted in a lovely, sharp-edged italic. She stopped, walked in and met Jose Martinez. The graffiti world has its kings, and Martinez is one of them. The 31-year-old’s street name, “Steam,” is emblazoned on walls across the Southland. The calligrapher and the graffiti artist have been learning from each other ever since.

Dec 11/09 - My project is essentially about the difference between Graffiti-Vandalism (Tags, Bombs, etc.) and Graffiti-murals (Murals, Pieces, etc.) so in order to do so i’m proposing to transform the two stairwells located in my school library into ‘Galleries’. What i am going to do is paint directly on the walls of the staircases, and because the two are located on the direct opposite sides of the library.
