ROW80-2 -06/15 - publishing plan
June 16, 2016
As mentioned in my last post a week or so ago, I've been looking for a way to get my second novel published, and have decided to go with my original publisher, Deux Voiliers Publishing. 'We' are a co-op type of arrangement, and usually look at new authors only, but will do this sequel too. The timetable is for me to add my last changes by month end, then it goes to a couple of our members for a beta pass, then copy edit, then line edit, final proof, and layout. IWe have some cover ideas too, so I'll roam with my camera. We'll publish via Amazon/Createspace to do the first few copies, and also get up on Ingram/Spark once the bugs are ironed out. For a large run we'll stay local, with Canadian prices, likely with Gauvin Press.
- Writing
- Editing - started agin on Return to Kirk's Landing, before passing it on to my publisher. got some feedback from another agent, that declined but said she needed to connect better with my protagonists. I can see that - as a sequel there is less conflict between the two lovers, and there is less of their troubled pasts mentioned, to show underlying issues. So - changes will happen.
- Publishing/Marketing
- I had a good meeting with my critique group, MONDSFF (Monday Sc-Fi/Fantasy). On a Monday. We're looking at 'how to critique' so that we can do it better, and more.
- Reading/Watching
- Still hooked on Robin Hobb's four part series, Rain Wild Chronicles. On the last one now, Blood of Dragons.
- My book club did Only Time Will Tell, by Jeffrey Archer, and I sent in to a newsletter the review of it and the previous on, Deadroads.
- Other
- Warmish again, my raspberry still thrives.
- Good girlfriend visit - of course. I gave her my old iPad, just for email, and set up a minimal interface on it.
- Gaming - I've updated the mods to my Euro Truck Simulator program, so have taken some relaxing trips around Europe.
- Socially - my son had a late afternoon shift so I went out to babysit. I'm trying to get my 8 yr old grandson to start writing a story a week for me.
I love that you are trying to get your grandson to write a story a week. Way to go, Gramps. A great idea. I started writing when I was about 8 and wish I would have had that kind of support. Maybe it wouldn't have taken me another 40 years to get published.

Good luck with the publishing. Sounds like things are going well for you.
