ROW80-2 -07/04 -More Winter??

Freezingrain Here it is April 7th, and the forecast is for freezing rain!  But, it is Canada. Possibility of 1-3 cm snow Tuesday too. Still, the days are longer, and it's often mild enough to encourage wandering the hood, maybe sipping a coffee in the sun at a cafe. In the meantime, I continue to do writerly things.

Objectives (writerly and an 'other' section):

  • Write - Because I do enjoy it. I'll set a new and very modest target of 1h/day, early in the day. 
    • Write new material - one draft Flash Fiction a week. Story done, about Noah's neighbours, Fred and Doris. Outlined two other stories, for contests, but left them for later.
    • Edit existing material - to send in for publication - see below. 
    • Work on my next novel 
  • Write better - Read about how to write, and get constructive feedback.
    • My main source of writing info is a series of writerly blogs. Objective  -stay current.  Yup, current.
    • Continue with setting Flash Fiction prompts. Good for challenge, practice, and feedback. Objective - set a challenge a week. Next challenge set. Waking up on an empty bus, you remember five random words. Add them to the story. 
    • Resuming Masterclass on Storytelling, by eil Gaiman. #5 done, Developing the Story. Next is a case study of "The Graveyard Book", by him.
  • Publish/market  - We publish partially for the glory and bags of money, but also for the feedback and increased marketability. 
    • I have many FF written already, here. I'll re-examine them, and send off one a week to some publishers.
    • Did another FaceBook ad, promoting my page. Not sure if these work, but I had a credit. 
    • Tweaked my Amazon Marketing Campaigns on KDP for my two Kindle books. Adjusting keywords and 'bids'. 
    • Looked into getting my print versions into my account, from my publisher's. He's fine, just need process.
  • Read with purpose
    • Objective - read and review a book a week. Read The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman.

 

  • Better health
    • It's spring now. Set Fitbit target to 3500 steps a day. Objective - 7 day average. 7 day average 2748
    • Set sleep target to 7.5 hours, starting at midnight. Objective - 5 times a week.  Erratic, but 7h, 5/7 days. 
  • Stay social - That's a given, what with walking about, visits to local cafes and bars, and all my grandkids being in Ottawa. Beers with friends at my local. Online chats with my peeps via Twitch.
    • Again, limits for some of this. No more than three pub visits a week. 5/7 days last week.
  • Have fun - Gaming, Netflix - both indoors. Outdoors? I had this objective last year for casual fun, like Netflix and video games. But now gaming, and Twitch streaming, has grown to several hours a day, at various times, for various durations. Sometimes I have viewers to chat with, sometimes not.
    • Set up a regular schedule (try again!)
    • Use Map My Walk to track my exercise, and show in Google Earth for me.  Started to track several walks but forgot to stop as soon as returned. But coverage is interesting. 
  • Chores - I added this to capture bigger jobs. None tackled yet - all too big. Need to sub-divide. Taxes??

Canadian here as well, so I feel you on winter not wanting to let go. At least the brief periods of nice weather seem to help recharge me a bit.

Good luck with all of your goals this round, especially the health-related ones. I've had to set a similar goal as well.
